Mind. Body. Spirit.
It was a whirlwind holiday season. I think Christmas happened. Can someone confirm? And according to my watch, it is in fact 2019. So that definitely happened. I’m struggling with the recollecting thing.
I set some goals for this year. I haven’t done resolutions in many years aside from setting a number of books to read for the year. But this year, I wanted more goals because the book thing became way too easy. One of those goals is to focus on my health even more. I’ve mentioned before about my physical limitations with drop foot and my pain, specifically my back pain. It turns out those limitations are going to make one of my goals nearly impossible. I decided to find a new chiropractor and start there before going to my neurologist. I made a call on December 31 and seven days into the new year I was sitting in my consultation discussing my back pain.
I wish I had enough time to go into all the details about what happened from the moment I pulled into the parking lot, sat in the lobby, filled out paperwork, walked back into the exam room, etc. but I don’t. What I will say to sum it up is I was WAY TOO COMFORTABLE walking into a new place with a lot of hustle and bustle and new people than anyone with my level of social/crowd anxieties should ever be. I noticed it immediately. And that is where the story of my chiropractic turned divine appointment story begins.
The chiro office I stumbled into also turned out to be a Chronic Conditions and Wellness Center. As I was consulting with the doc, I brought up my drop foot and thats when everything took a turn. I was told I needed to speak with Dr. Denman (the big dawg) and behold he burst in and interrupted the appointment. Neuropathy is his specialty and he’s invested heavily in the latest technology to not only help someone like me. Turns out, I have severe nerve damage, compressed discs pinching the nerves, circulation in both feet is awful and my neck has no curve which is stretching those nerves along with the beginnings of bone spurs. All nerve areas affected are connected to my drop foot, stomach, allergies, etc. (all things I’ve had issues with for years). The moment he said, “I will never treat a symptom” I knew he was my guy. Treating symptoms never fixes a problem. Someone should share this information with my (former) doctor and neurologist because their expensive pain meds and leg braces heal NOTHING. Go back and take a better oath you can stick to! Thank U, next. *soap box*
I’m now taking part in a customized therapy program with something along the lines of an 84% success rate using technology that pharmaceutical companies are still trying to bury to this day. My treatments are two times a week for 90 days and then two times a month for the rest of the year and I’m feeling extremely optimistic about it all. I’ve only completed two treatments and I already notice a difference in my pain.
Also, insurance covers a big fat zero, so send meals!
Cheers to 2019, all the possibilities and seizing opportunities! Check your symptoms and track them to the source. Treat the source this year!
